News Service
We are the conduit between the news media and the campus. The News Service partners with the campus to get important news out, and we help the media find information quickly and on deadline. Our staff, all with backgrounds as journalists and communications professionals, helps the campus show how we make a difference in the lives of people every day.
How we serve the news media
- Assist in finding experts and information
- Aid in locating photos
- Provide news tips, press conferences advisories
- Help schedule interviews
- Provide accommodations for broadcast media
- Provide parking and directions
How we serve the campus
In assisting you with the news media, we:
- Create media plans
- Produce press releases
- Organize press conferences and media availabilities
- Serve as facilitators between campus and media
- Coach faculty and staff
- Teach workshops
- Media training workshops
- Campus Communicators Certificate Series through Staff Development and Professional Services
For internal campus communication, we:
- Provide leadership for the UC Davis Communications Council
- Consult on photos, writing and communication
- Write campus stories for our faculty/staff newspaper and alumni magazine
- Publish a weekly faculty/staff newspaper
- Maintain a Seminars & Events calendar
- Seminars & Events calendar
- Submit an new entry to Seminars & Events calendar
- Calendar submission deadlines
- Produce a home-page publication that highlights campus accomplishments
