How to get to UC Davis
Parking rules
We restrict parking within the campus core but reporters can get access following directions below. You can park for free on campus and at the medical center in any non-restricted parking lot, Diamond "E" and vendor spaces and at meters. If your vehicle is not marked with a media logo, place a business card on the dashboard.

- Activities and Recreation Center (ARC)
- Bainer Hall (engineering)
From Interstate 80, travel north on Highway 113 to the first exit, Hutchison Drive. Turn right and travel on Hutchison to the traffic light at LaRue Road. Turn right onto LaRue. Turn left on Hutchison Drive driving past the intersection with Bioletti Way until you reach parking lot 43.
- Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center
Take Interstate 80 to the UC Davis campus exit (west of Richards Boulevard exit). Turn north from off-ramp onto New Davis Road. Drive past South Gate kiosk, turn left on Beau Vine Lane and enter the parking facility. The Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center, whose main entrance faces south, is kitty-corner to the Mondavi Center on the north side of the park. There are a few parking spaces in front of the center for TV trucks. Otherwise, the closest parking is either in the parking facility south of the Mondavi Center or closer to Mrak Hall along Mrak Hall Circle.
- California Lighting Technology Center
From Sacramento heading west on Interstate 80, take the Richards Boulevard South exit. Turn left onto Richards and cross the overpass. Richards becomes Cowell Boulevard. Stay in the right lane. Turn left onto Drew Avenue. Proceed to 1554 Drew and turn into the parking lot. The center is at the back of the lot.
From San Francisco, head east on Interstate 80 to the Richards Boulevard/Davis exit. Turn left at the light and stay in the far-right lane. Richards becomes Cowell Boulevard. Turn left onto Drew Avenue. Proceed to 1554 Drew and turn into the parking lot. The center is at the back of the lot.
- The California Raptor Center
Take Interstate 80 to UC Davis exit. From Sacramento, turn left off the off ramp under the freeway and proceed south on Old Davis Road. From San Francisco, turn right off the off ramp onto Old Davis Road. Head south, crossing the train tracks, and continue to the entrance (on left) for the Institute of Toxicology and Environmental Health. Turn left here, travel past the institute, and see the raptor center at the end of the road.
- Dutton Hall (student services building)
From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north through the tunnel, cross First Street and continue on E Street. At Fifth Street, turn left. At Howard Way, turn left and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant on which you will need to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn left on North Quad Road and right at East Quad Road. Please park on the west side of East Quad Road. Dutton Hall is east of the quad and between North and South halls.
- Engineering II (Kemper Hall)
From I-80, take the UC Davis exit. Turn north from off-ramp onto Old Davis Road. Drive past South Gate kiosk, turn left at first intersection. Go straight past the stop sign over the bridge. Turn left onto LaRue Road and right on Bioletti Way. You can park in parking lot 44, on the right hand side.
- Freeborn Hall
Take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Travel east on Russell to Howard Way. At Howard Way, turn left and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant on which you will need to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn left on North Quad Road. You can park on North Quad or turn right at East Quad Road and park along the street (you can also parking long West Quad Road).
- Genome and Biomedical Sciences Building
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive. Take the first right onto West Health Science Drive. Turn left at the first intersection and proceed to parking lot 54. The building entrance is on the east side of the building, facing the parking lot.
- Hickey Gym
Take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Travel east on Russell to Howard Way. Turn right on Howard Way and drive to the parking structure on the left. Hickey Gym is located just south of the parking structure.
- King Hall (School of Law)
From Interstate 80, take the UC Davis exit and head north on Old Davis Road. After passing the South Gate kiosk, turn left at the T intersection. Turn right at a stop sign and proceed on Old Davis Road. At a stoplight, turn left onto Mrak Hall Drive. King Hall is on the left. Proceed around the top of the circular drive and into Parking Lot #3 between Mrak Hall and King Hall.
- Main Theatre (Wright Hall)
From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north through the tunnel, and turn left onto First Street. Drive past the B Street three-way intersection. The closest parking will be in Parking Lot #6. Heading west on First Street past the Aggie Inn and Parking Lot Number 10, turn left onto A Street and continue to Hutchison Drive, where you will turn right. Just before the barrier closing Hutchison to traffic, turn left onto Cushing Way, a winding, two-lane street that runs behind Wright Hall, along the arboretum. A convenient sidewalk leading to Main Theatre wheelchair ramps is on your right. You may unload but not park here. After unloading, you may continue on Cushing Way to Parking Lot Number 6, just west of Wright Hall.
- Marya Welch Tennis Center
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Turn right on Russell Boulevard. At California Avenue, turn right and proceed to the parking lot 15, the first lot on your left. The tennis center is located to the east of the lot.
- Memorial Union (student union building)
Take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Travel east on Russell to Howard Way. Turn right on Howard Way and drive to the information gate. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant on which you will need to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn left on North Quad Road and right at East Quad Road and park along the street (you can also park along West Quad Road).
- Mrak Hall (main administrative building)
From Interstate 80, take the UC Davis exit and head north on New Davis Road. After passing an information kiosk, head past the new parking facility. At the first stoplight, turn left past the Mondavi Performing Arts Center. Drive to the stop sign. Mrak Hall is directly to the north, at the top of the circular drive. Park at any of the metered spaces or in Parking Lot # 3 between Mrak Hall and King Hall to the south (do not park in the chancellor's parking space).
- Nelson Art Gallery (in the Art building)
From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north through the tunnel, and turn left onto First Street. Drive past the B Street three-way intersection. The closest parking will be in parking lot No. 6. Heading west on First Street past the Aggie Inn and Parking Lot Number 10, turn left onto A Street and continue to Hutchison Drive, where you will turn right. Just before the barrier closing Hutchison to traffic, turn left onto Cushing Way, a winding, two-lane street that runs behind Wright Hall, along the arboretum. Continue on Cushing Way to parking lot No. 6, just south of the Art Building. The Nelson Gallery is located in Room 124 Art Building. Gallery hours are noon-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2-5 p.m. on Sunday.
- Olson Hall (general classroom building)
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Turn right on Russell. At Howard Way, turn right and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant on which you will need to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn left on North Quad and the first right on to East Quad. Proceed to the intersection with Peter J. Shields Avenue. Olson Hall is on Shields Avenue kitty-corner from The Quad. You can park on Shields Avenue or East Quad.
- The Pavilion at ARC (formerly Recreation Hall)
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive. Turn right on to Hutchison. Take the first left on to Extension Center Drive and then turn immediately right into Visitor Parking Lot 30. The lodge is located off the northeast corner of the parking lot.
- Police and Fire Departments
Take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive exit. Travel east toward main campus, crossing LaRue Drive. Turn left on Klieber Hall Drive, in front of the Life Science Building. The police and fire departments are on the left, and there is an adjacent parking lot.
- Putah Creek Lodge
Take Interstate 80 to the UC Davis exit and head north on Old Davis Road. Proceed through a stop sign and cross a small bridge. Turn left on LaRue Road. Turn left on Putah Creek Lodge Drive. Follow a bend to the right to reach a parking lot. Overflow parking is available in Lot 47 on LaRue Road immediately opposite Putah Creek Lodge Drive.
- The Quad
Take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Travel east on Russell to Howard Way. Turn right on Howard Way and drive to the information gate. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant on which you will need to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn left on North Quad Road and right at East Quad Road. The Quad is located on your right. Please park on the west side of East Quad Road.
- Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts
Take Interstate 80 to the UC Davis campus exit (west of Richards Boulevard exit). Turn north from off-ramp on to Old Davis Road. Drive past South Gate kiosk and turn south on Beau Vine Lane, heading to new parking facility, located just south of the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Park in the parking garage across the street from the center.
- Schalm Hall (School of Medicine)
Take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive. Turn right onto Hutchison Drive and then right on to the first road past the interchange (it leads into the Health Sciences area). At the first opportunity turn right onto Health Sciences Drive, then immediately left onto East Health Sciences Drive. Park in parking lot 54. Schalm Hall is the single-story building south of the parking lot.
- Segundo Commons
Take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Travel east on Russell to LaRue Road. Turn left on LaRue and left again onto Orchard Park Drive. Proceed into parking lot 25. The dining hall is just north of the parking lot, and its entrance is also on the north side.
- Shields Library
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Turn right on Russell. At Howard Way, turn right and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant on which you will need to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn right on North Quad and the first left on to West Quad. Proceed to the intersection with Peter J. Shields Avenue. Shields Library is on the southwest corner, across from The Quad. You can park on Shields or West Quad.
- Social Sciences and Humanities Building
From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north toward the campus. Turn left onto First Street, then right onto A Street. Social Sciences and Humanities is on the left side of the street at the intersection with Third Street and is a silver/gray five-story building with several elevations. Parking is available in a lot adjacent to Dutton Hall, just south of Young Hall in a parking lot opposite Rice Lane.
- South Entry Parking Structure
Take Interstate 80 to the UC Davis campus exit (west of Richards Boulevard exit). Turn north from off-ramp on to Old Davis Road. Drive past South Gate kiosk, heading straight to new parking facility, located just south of the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
- UC Davis Medical Center (UC Davis' teaching hospital in Sacramento)
From Davis, San Francisco and the west
Take Business 80 East/Reno to Highway 50/Placerville. Exit at 34th Street. Turn left on 34th Street to T Street. Turn right on T Street to Stockton Boulevard. Turn right on Stockton Boulevard, and travel three blocks to UC Davis Medical Center. As you face the front of the hospital, there is a parking garage to the left and a small meter lot right in front.
From Placerville and the east
Take Highway 50 to Stockton Boulevard exit. Turn left on Stockton Boulevard and travel five blocks to UC Davis Medical Center. As you face the front of the hospital, there is a parking garage to the left and a small meter lot right in front.
From Reno, North and the east
Take Business 80 to Highway 50-Placerville. Exit at 34th Street. Turn left on 34th Street to T Street. Take a right on T Street to Stockton Boulevard. Turn right on Stockton Boulevard, and travel three blocks to UC Davis Medical Center. As you face the front of the hospital, there is a parking garage to the left and a small meter lot right in front.
From Stockton, Los Angeles and the south
Follow Highway 99 to Business 80-Reno. Exit at T Street. Turn right on T Street to Stockton Boulevard. Turn right on Stockton Boulevard, and travel three blocks to UC Davis Medical Center. As you face the front of the hospital, there is a parking garage to the left and a small meter lot right in front.
From Sacramento Metro Airport and the north
Take Interstate-5 to Business 80-Reno to Highway 50-Placerville. Exit at 34th Street. Turn left on 34th Street to T Street. Take a right on T Street to Stockton Boulevard. Turn right on Stockton Boulevard, and travel three blocks to UC Davis Medical Center. As you face the front of the hospital, there is a parking garage to the left and a small meter lot right in front.
- University Airport
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive. Turn left off the exit and cross over the freeway and continue on Hutchison Drive to Hopkins Road. Turn left. Turn left at the third road. The airport is on the south side of the road.
- University Club Conference Center
From Interstate 80, take the UC Davis exit and head north on New Davis Road. After passing an information kiosk, head past the new parking facility. At the first stoplight, turn left past the Mondavi Performing Arts Center. Drive to the stop sign. Turn right onto Old Davis Road and drive to the next stop sign, where you will turn right again, into parking lot 5. The University Club is located at the southwest end of the parking lot.
- Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Hutchison Drive. At the stoplight, turn right onto LaRue Road, then right again onto Garrod Drive. For the Small Animal Clinic, turn right at the stop sign, then left into Parking Lot 50. For the large Animal Clinic, turn left at the stop sign. You'll still be on Garrod Drive. Continue around the vet hospital to Parking Lot 51 on your right.
- Watershed Center
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to the first exit, Hutchison Drive. Exit right, toward the main campus. At the La Rue Road intersection (traffic light), turn right. Stay left on La Rue around a large curve. On your left, pass two big parking lots, Bioletti Way and Meyer Hall, and come to another parking lot, Lot P46. Park here. The watershed center is a tan and red-brown, two-story building at the far end of parking lot 46, on the corner of La Rue and California Avenue.
- Wellman Hall (general classroom building)
From Interstate 80, take Highway 113 north to Russell Boulevard. Turn right on Russell. At Howard Way, turn right and proceed to the gate to gain access to the central campus. You will receive a 30-minute parking permit from the parking attendant to fill in your license plate number and last name. Note: No vehicles can get through the gate between 10 minutes to the hour and 10 minutes after the hour. Once you're through the gate, turn right on North Quad and the first left on to West Quad. Wellman is the second building on your right, in the middle of the block.
- Wyatt Pavilion
From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north through the tunnel and turn left onto First Street. Continue to A Street and turn left. Drive one block. Continue through the intersection and turn into parking lot 5A. Wyatt Pavilion is the first building just past the southwest corner of the parking lot and Old Davis Road.
- Young Hall (social science departments)
From Interstate 80, exit at Richards Boulevard, proceed north toward the campus. Turn left onto First Street, then right onto A Street. Young Hall is on the left side of the street and is a three-story, pale-yellow building. Parking is available in a lot adjacent to Dutton Hall, just south of Young Hall. Turn left in unlabeled drive opposite Rice Lane.
